About Coverbase

The foundation of the modern global economy is built on a dense network of counterparty trust and risk. In the past 50 years, companies have evolved from relying on a couple of wholesalers and vendors, to utilizing 100+ SaaS vendors, contract partners, and cloud providers. Since each counterparty has their own idiosyncratic internal processes and risk profiles, businesses end up spending millions of dollars and countless man-hours conducting due diligence.

Coverbase's mission is to streamline this business-to-business assessment, reducing human toil, and allowing organizations to work together safely and reliably. We employ modern AI techniques to organize vast amounts of unstructured data and compare them against policies to identify key risks to the business. We have customers in insurance, higher education and finance including 5 of the top 25 banks in the US.

The founders are childhood friends who grew up in Singapore and moved to the US for college. Clarence was previously cofounder and CTO of Unit21, a Series C fraud tooling company that has raised ~$100M to date. Kao was an engineering manager at Stripe who helped start the Banking-as-a-Service product. We’ve raised $3.5M from a world-class set of investors and our team of 6 have build important products at Google, Mapbox and Waymo.

Role

We’re seeking our first business hire. Founder-led sales has helped us get to meaningful early revenue in the first 6 months of the company without any outbound sales, but we’re ready to accelerate and grow our business. We have a revenue-generating product in use by the top (literally) banks, credit unions, and insurance carriers in the country.

This a high-impact hire to shape the future of our go-to-market strategy and help scale a fast-growing company from its earliest days. Like the rest of our team, we care more about your trajectory than where you’re starting from. Formal education or prior domain experience is not a dealbreaker, but an entrepreneurial drive, the ability to thrive in ambiguity, and a willingness to build something from scratch are essential.

Responsibilities

Your role will be multi-faceted and dynamic, reflecting the early-stage nature of our company. You will be working closely with the founders to share (and eventually own) the following responsibilities:

• Build the Pipeline: Own prospecting efforts and refine our early distribution strategy to develop a robust pipeline of high-value opportunities.
• Lead Sales Conversations: Drive end-to-end sales processes, from the first conversation to closing deals, with prospective customers across industries like banking, credit unions, and insurance.
• Collaborate with Product teams: Act as the voice of the customer internally. Share insights from sales conversations to guide product evolution and ensure we’re solving the right problems for our users.
• Establish GTM Foundations: Define and implement a predictable, efficient sales motion that scales as we grow.
• Be a Business Partner: Represent Coverbase with professionalism and creativity, adapting strategies to meet customer needs while ensuring alignment with our mission and values.

Requirements

• Proven Sales Experience: You’ve held the title of Account Executive or a similar sales role at a mid-market or enterprise level, ideally at major infrastructure tech companies (e.g., AWS, Oracle) or high-growth startups like Plaid, Persona, Ramp, Socure, or Atomic.
• 3-6 Years of Experience: You have a solid foundation in SaaS sales fundamentals, with experience driving results in complex, high-value sales environments.
• Enterprise-Capable, Builder Mindset: You’re skilled at navigating enterprise deals but still eager to roll up your sleeves, build processes from scratch, and hustle in an early-stage environment.
